135) The Hairy Lemon of Lower Stephen Street, D2

Tourist-friendly and excessively expensive watering hole near Stephen’s Green. Mixed memorabilia everywhere. A self-proclaimed ‘old world pub’ named after the famous Dublin character who had the appearance of yellow complexion and a prickly beard. There’s a false snug in the bar and an old newspaper rack usually well stocked with copies of the Irish Times. An unusual smoking area is home to much shitty graffiti and synthetic luminous grass, certainly not a part of the old world. Some scenes from the 1990 film of Roddy Doyle's The Commitments were shot here. Notable for many fascinating curios on the walls and a laughable segment of the counter waggishly labelled 'Bullshit Corner' – squat there at your peril and run the likely risk of joining the besuited chorus of the city's standing army of bullshitters.
