32) Izakaya of South Great George’s Street, D2

The upstairs is a costly Japanese restaurant (which must face steep competition from the longer established Yamamori across the road), the downstairs comprises a dark and late-opening bar. Gives off a trendy vibe. Shots of sake can be had. Some scenes from TCD auteur Rosanna Mallison's unreleased (if not unreleasable?) sci-fi thriller Promethean were also filmed here in the summer of 2012, in which Sam Coll appeared as an unpaid un-billed extra, repeatedly telling an off-colour joke over and over again to the long-suffering barman (beautifully played by Andrew Oakes - where is he now I wonder?...).
