Established in 1887 and rebuilt in 1906, this is a magnificent Victorian pub (yet not usually listed as a Victorian pub in various publications) at the heart of Phibsborough, with yet another gem right across the street (see below). High ceilings and original decor have been painstakingly restored. Often overcrowded on racing and matching days, so slip in early to nab a stool. Copies of the magazine Ireland's Eye are scattered on the counter and are of interest. The ‘Boh Bar,’ so called affectionately by locals, offers a very fine pint of Beamish stout.
