140) The Bankers Bar of Trinity Street, D2

A busy little bar stretching onto Dame Lane. It’s as long as it is narrow and is very much a Guinness bar as advertisements will show. Very pricey and unashamedly so. They have a large selection of Irish whiskey coupled with quotations on the wall such as: ‘God invented whiskey so the Irish wouldn’t rule the world!’ And, ‘What whiskey won’t cure there is no cure for.’ The upstairs in now a restaurant but was a former live music venue. [1] The upstairs once held auditions for a 2011 RTE internet series called The Begrudgers – Sam Coll was proud to be shortlisted for a supporting role, but failed to make the cut.

FOOTNOTE

[1] In 2000 Stephens played a gig here with his band Kashmere Soul. Both band and venue have since been retired, gladly for the former, sadly for the latter.
