160) Brady’s of Terenure Place, D6W

The lounge is large and loud and gastritis - a forgettable affair. However, the modest bar by contrast is traditional and dignified. There are a few segmented nooks to squeeze one’s fanny, and a luscious light can be your reward. Regrettably however, it serves a rancid pint of Beamish. Tippler’s Tip: Stick to the Guinness in here!

Mick Pyro, of the band Republic of Loose, a local living legend who has been sighted elsewhere in Rathmines, has celebrated Brady's and its (dreadful) Beamish in the song Parasite: ‘Now you’ve been sitting in Brady’s maybe a couple of hours/when your heart starts hurting with a tick tick sound/now the tock tock tock sort of stutters and pounds/you put your Beamish on the mat and lock the pendulum down.’ P.S. Especially fine are the lyrics from the bonus track Move My Love: 'My cock – Your face/I got you looking like a fucking disgrace' etc, etc. One thinks of Homer.

ENDNOTE: A smaller section at the side of the pub with its own entrance is called Gub Dandy’s. Trad music and no-nonsense is well preserved here.
