351) The King's Inn of Castle Street, Dalkey, South County Dublin

A decided improvement on the Queen's. Very local and full of familiars on first name terms. A straggler asked if there was food – the barman replied, with a touch of pride, that they were the only pub in Dalkey that did not do edibles. Thumbs up for this brand of purity. An obvious trustingness is on display, given that customers are not afraid to leave twenty euro notes lying around at unattended tables, confident that staff shall sweep it up and pour a next round in their absence. Alas, their Beamish, while happily priced (€4.25), is of poor quality, stale-seeming and bubbly of head, indicative of a lack of flow, a mediocre beverage leaving a bad taste in the mouth, souring the whole experience.
