217) McGrath’s (Patrick) of Drumcondra Road Lower, D9

This agreeable old bar and lounge was established in 1938 and serves a great pint of Guinness stout. The pub boasts a very fine external pillar standing at the corner of Grattan Parade and Drumcondra Road Lower. A busy off-licence is attached and serves the community. The bar is wooden, the lounge is foody. The atmosphere is frequently in flux as a gentle rumble can be detected - the result of an interchange on the nearby overhead Dart line. Hopefully McGrath’s is getting more business now that Quinn’s is closed.
