375) The Roundabout of Ardcollum Avenue, Beaumont, D5

So named for its proximity to the roundabout on the Malahide Road. We bypassed the lounge and opted for the bar which is rough around the edges but hearty - and busy for a Monday. What joy - Beamish bonds at €4.35! Many a bickering betting man looking lamentably at the horses. We were told to take a seat by the Barwoman who was slow to take our details - a slow Beamish but a tasty one. And when the drink finally arrived, the barlady claimed she’d seen Andrew Stephens before, which she almost certainly had not (an interesting technique of making one feel familiarity). On the walls are little round cameos of Malahide Castle, Ireland’s Eye, Ha’penny Bridge, etc.

Tippler’s Tip: under NO circumstances is one to wear a tracksuit - for they are strictly and emphatically forbidden - ‘don’t embarrass us’, quoth the sign.
