58) The 51 Bar of Haddington Road, D4

One of a sleepy few spots nestled on the leafy Haddington road. One was once a sucker for this comparatively inoffensive place on account of a cheap pint deal they had going (four euro Guinness). One wouldn't be caught dead there nowadays.

The most noteworthy fact about this bar is that it neighbours St. Mary’s church, the location of the once coveted instrument referred to in The Dead of Dubliners - ‘Mary Jane, who was then a little girl in short clothes, was now the main prop of the household, for she had the organ in Haddington Road.’
